Happy Deepavali Celebrations 2020
Given the COVID-19 situation, classes were invited to engage in the activities separately. Celebrations started with a brief introduction on the customs and traditions observed on Deepavali, and the historical story behind the reason for celebrating Deepavali. Children were then given the opportunity to decorate a big Rangoli, a traditional decoration done by Indians on festive occasions. Back in their classes, children were each presented with an oil lamp, and were given the opportunity to decorate it. Teachers also drew Henna designs on children’s hands and palm, to engage them in the Deepavali festive cheer. Child sampled traditional Indian sweet meats during tea-time.
